Julep colors first caught my eye this winter, when they started popping up all across my Pinterest feed. While I’m certainly no stranger to vivid hues of polish, Julep offered the whole Crayola box of matte, shiny and glitter hues. I had to give it a try.
Look: 4/5 – There are so many amazing colors in Julep’s lines that you really can’t go wrong. No matter what your personal taste runs to, Julep covers both trends and classic colors. The color goes on really well; after just two coats of most colors, you’ll have super solid color that will last the week. Some colors are a tad watery and may need more coats, which is my only complaint about the look. The product is packaged well in a sleek little bottle.
Feel: 4/5 – The polish felt strong once it went on, and it held up despite a weekend worth of heavy lifting at home (and at the gym). Julep also makes a range of products to help extend the life of your mani, so you can try out some of these if you find that your manis tend to chip super fast no matter what brand you use.
/5 – No fuss! All of the Julep colors I have tried so far stayed on really well, looked amazing and were totally easy to apply. Revolutionize your nail care with a 15-minute Julep mani and you’ll be a convert too.
Cost: 3/5 – There’s no getting around it, Julep colors are pricey. The bottles themselves are $14 (while you can often find colors on sale for less), and they are smaller than other nail polish bottles. But the color goes on with just a couple coats and lasts a long time. It’s definitely worth a splurge for some of the more unique colors.
If you love Julep nail polish as much as I do, you may want to check out some of their box deals. You’ll get two to three hot nail colors, plus a little something extra (say, tinted lip gloss or fast-drying mani creme). I bought a few colors here and there, but if you love receiving special packages in the mail and manis are your splurge area, then you may want to consider signing up for their monthly Maven shipment to receive a new box of Julep colors every single month.
