Do you wake up every morning feeling like a robot, not quite present and engaged in your routine? Mornings are the best time of day to incorporate healthy choices that can spread into your afternoon and evening. Try any of these practices to get your day started down the right path.
People who practice meditation have the advantage of minimizing anxiety and irritability. Plus, daily meditators have greater resilience to stress and other factors that are harmful to mood. If you’re not interested in becoming a full-blown Yogi, try this short mindfulness exercise each morning.
Take a walk around your block for about 10 minutes. Spend 1-2 minutes each being aware of: the feeling of the air on your skin; the sounds around you; the impact of your feet hitting the grass or pavement; the sensation of breathing; and what you can see. Such an exercise slows down your thoughts and allows you to focus on the here and now, rather than rushing through your morning by worrying about deadlines and obligations.
Sex has so many benefits that it’s almost obvious that a good romp in the sheets is topping the list. In addition to a crazy glow that will follow you around throughout the day, morning sex offers stress relief, a boost to your immune system and lifts your mood. Getting your groove on can make your day better even before your feet hit the floor.
Dose of Motivation
If you don’t quite have the time for sex or a mindfulness exercise, try getting a healthy dose of motivation before you start your day. Encouragement can come from just about anywhere and a small amount goes a long way. Recite a personal mantra to yourself as you brush your teeth or pack your lunch. Read some inspiring quotes that get you energized about the day ahead. This tactic takes little or no extra time but can give you the boost you need to have a positive and productive day.
