Your bra gaps between the fabric and your breasts. Your straps keep falling down or dig into your shoulders. These and similar problems could indicate that you’re wearing the wrong bra size, shape or style for your body. To get the most accurate fit, it’s best to undergo a professional bra fitting. In the meantime, here are a few telltale signs that you may be wearing the wrong bra.
1. The Band Slides Up and Down
The band of the bra is the part that fits around your torso, directly below the breasts. If the band of your bra easily slides up and down when on the tightest hook, your bra is too big. The band of a bra is what supports the breasts, and therefore should fit snugly.
2. You Have Boob Bulge
Boob bulge occurs when you have a “spillage” of breast tissue in the front or on either side of your chest. While some cleavage is fine, your breasts should not be spilling over your bra, creating a bulge effect. If this is happening, you need to go up a cup size.
3. Straps Keeping Fall Down
Once you adjust the straps the first time you purchase a bra, you shouldn’t have to adjust them again. In some cases, the straps of a bra can stretch out in the washer or dryer. If your straps continue to need adjusting, you may want to go down a band size.
4. The Center of the Bra Doesn’t Lie Flat
The center of the bra, which is called the ‘gore’, is the strip of fabric that attaches the cups of the bra at the front. The gore of the bra should lie completely flat against your sternum. If it doesn’t, the bra is either too small or the wrong style for your body shape.
5. Your Back or Neck Hurt
Back and/or neck pain are classic signs of an ill-fitting bra. Without the right bra size and proper support, you’re bound to feel some aches and pains. Visit a lingerie specialist in your area for a bra fitting.
How your bra fits can make a significant difference in your comfort and confidence level. If you’re experiencing any of these signs of a bra that doesn’t fit quite right, make the change to the right bra.
