With summer behind us, it’s time to see with autumn has in store in terms of trends. From bows to stick-straight ponytails, here are five hair trends straight from the designer runways that will inspire the latter half of 2017.
1. Huge Volume
Whatever it takes for you to get hair volume, it’s worth trying. Models across the board had larger-than-life locks, such as huge side parts for Max Mara models, hair crimping on the Ports 1961 runway, beachy waves for the Louis Vuitton show, and a hairstyle described as Chanelarella for Chanel’s models.
Whether you like little plaits at your hairline or you want to tie your locks into a big fishtail braid, plaits are back in a major way this fall. H&M Studio models had cute braided pigtails, JS Lee sent out models in braided space buns, Balmain models had cornrows atop ponytails, and, on the Emporio Armani catwalk, loose braids were in. In other words, you have a lot of options.
3. Slicked-Back Wet-Looking Hair
For those days when you can’t be bothered to style your hair, sport the wet look. Blugirl, Moschillo, Sportmax, Thakoon, and Giambattista Valli all sent out models with wet-looking locks. You may remember this trend popping up this spring, and it seems it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
4. Stick-Straight Ponytails
The versatile, everyday ponytail gets dressed up by pulling hair straight back to create this slick look. Prabal Gurung and Oscar De La Renta’s respective models looked glam with their ponytails, proving there’s versatility in this hairstyle. No flyaways allowed!
5. Bows and Ribbons
It’s time to present your hair like a gift with beautiful bows and ribbons. Many major designers sent their models out in simple low buns or ponytails held together with pretty bows, such as Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, Rochas, Temperley London, Marchesa, and Tory Burch. The latter two fashion houses favored huge bows, but you might want to wear yours smaller as part of your day-to-day look. Are you ready for your hair to be totally trend-worthy this fall?
