Move over, New York. Milan Fashion Week just wrapped up, and this Italian homage to fashion introduced us to a lot of great looks from big designers. Here are some fun styles we think are totally worth copying.
Bringing Back Big Logos
Back in the ‘90s, everyone proudly proclaimed the fashion brand they liked most, with the brand printed front and center on shirts and other garments. Then those logos faded away, getting smaller or disappearing altogether.
They’re back now. Milan Fashion Week saw Max Mara shirts, dresses, and skirts with the logo scattered throughout as well as Gucci sweatshirts with the name printed in huge block lettering. Wear your favorite brand with pride!
Pointy Pumps Are Comfy and Chic
All over the Roberto Cavalli runway, models strutted their stuff in pointy pumps with slight heels. These are like loafers but with triangular edges. They certainly looked comfortable and functional.
Pencil Skirts Aren’t Going Anywhere
Skirt trends change with the seasons, shifting from minis to midis to maxis. Now the pencil skirt has been rotated back into favor. Perfect for working girls who want to dress professionally, this fitted, proper skirt has shape and hits just below the knee. Wear it on those in-between fall days when you can still show a little leg.
Vamp Jeans Boast a Flattering Fit
Mom jeans don’t work for everyone and aren’t always flattering. You can say the same about skinny jeans. Versace rolled out something that’s in between the two styles. Known as vamp jeans, these have a closer fit but are still high-waisted.
Checkered Blazers Throw Back to the ‘90s
Here’s another ‘90s-inspired fashion: the checkered blazer. Seen most famously on Cher Horowitz in Clueless, you can dress with just as much panache in your own version of this blazer. Gucci’s blazers at Milan Fashion Week were colorful and workplace-friendly. There’s no way to go wrong with this one.
Going Sheer When Going Out
From Dolce & Gabbana to Fendi and Roberto Cavalli, sheer LBDs were the hot new thing at Milan Fashion Week. We’re talking totally sheer, too. For the bold, you’ll need a good bralette and high-waisted underwear to make this work. If you don’t want to show off that much skin, look for LBDs with sheer panels instead.
