Perhaps your days of worrying about all things prom are long behind you. This doesn’t mean you can’t benefit from prom inspired hairstyles, though. Check out the following list featured on Seventeen Magazine for some great prom looks you will want to emulate. Consider them for any upcoming semi-formal or formal occasion including Easter. Read on to be inspired:
Teased Half-Up Do
You don’t need a complete up-do in order to look great. After all, formal hair doesn’t have to be an up-do only. You can instead opt for a half up-do. To complete this look, tease the upper part of your hair, from around your ears up. Secure this section of hair with a sparkly clip or pin. To complete the look, use a curling iron to curl the bottom section of your hair that you’re leaving down. Use a texturing product and tease to give your hair some additional texture.
This style isn’t at up-do at all. However, it is still a beautiful look, especially if you have long hair. To achieve this style, use a curling wand to tightly curl your hair. Then, mist using hairspray and tease slightly just below your chin. This gives you some additional volume.
Chained Mermaid Braids
This is a truly utopian look that will demand attention. To complete, begin by pulling your hair up into a ponytail and dividing it into three separate fishtail braids, which you should pancake for volume. Next, twist the braids together, pinning throughout to ensure they stay together. Finish off the look by draping a chained necklace over the top, securing in place with bobby pins. This is an ideal way to reuse a favorite choker.
This up-do looks like it would be extremely difficult to pull off, but you can do it with some practice. The first step is to pull your hair up into a high ponytail. If your hair is on the thinner side, or you just want to up the volume, you might want to add some extensions. Braid the pony then flip under at the nape of your neck, securing with bobby pins. Ensure the braid is fastened to your head by using hairspray and bobby pins.
The hairstyles listed above are designed with prom in mind. However, you can take inspiration from them and wear these styles in a variety of settings. Consider visiting your stylist for help perfecting these impressive looks.
