Some fashion trends have the staying power necessary to last decades. Others, make you wonder how they ever made an appearance in the fashion world in the first place. Read below to read part II of our best and worst fashion trends of all time:
Best Fashion Trends of All Time According to Glamour Magazine
1. Flat Boots
Though the style has changed slightly over the years, from short, casual boots to the thigh-high versions that became popular in the 60s, flat boots have been a regular part of the fashion industry for decades. You can pair them with a dress in the fall and spring and enjoy them in winter as well, making them wearable virtually all year long. Oh, and high versions are still acceptable as well.
2. Basic White Tee
The basic white tee is the ideal base for a wide variety of outfits. Styles can range from casual to formal. The white tee works especially well with a classic pair of blue jeans to create the perfect American look, but it also works under a blazer with dress pants for a look appropriate in any corporate office.
3. The Miniskirt
Popularized by British designer Mary Quant in the 1960s, the miniskirt has stood the test of time. The miniskirt is a great way to show off your legs, and pairs especially nicely with boots or heels. Though it originated in London, it has become a regular part of wardrobes worldwide.
The Worst Fashion Trends of All Time According to Glamour Magazine
1. Sci-Fi Inspired Pieces
Even if you are the biggest Trekkie ever, you won’t want to wear a sci-fi inspired get up. To get an idea about this look, think of the movie the “Fifth Element.” These metal looking, otherworldly pieces are best avoided here on Earth.
2. Daisy Dukes
Named for the character who made them famous, Daisy Duke from the show “The Dukes of Hazard,” the fashion item daisy dukes are simple super short, short, shorts. While they are appropriate for a walk on the beach over a bikini, there are virtually no other settings in which they make sense if you are over the age of 16. Therefore, they are best avoided.
The fashion trends listed above represent some of the best and worst that have shown up throughout history. Some of them we are happy to see go, while others we hope will stick around for years to come.
